Health and Nutrition
Islamic Relief (IR) is committed to improve the health of children and women particularly for those who are poor and with limited access to health care. IR has been implementing Emergency Nutrition projects in 10 district of Somali Region with the fund from WFP and UNOCHA. The most vulnerable segments of the community (Under –five children, Pregnant and lactating women) has been reached and prioritized by the lifesaving Emergency Nutrition response. In year 2018 IR reached:
- 60,099 beneficiaries (32,917 children under the age of 5 and 27,182 pregnant and lactating women) who were moderate acute malnutrition (mam) are benefited from target supplementary feeding program (tsfp).
- 165 Outpatient Therapeutic (OTP) and 22 Stabilization centers has been providing treatment services for Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).
- 10 districts of somali region as a result of capacity building training, medical, non-medical and technical supports provided. A total of 1731 severe acute malnutrition (sam) children under five benefited at 165 outpatient therapeutic(otp) and 22 stabilization centers supported and strengthened by islamic relief in 2018.
- In 10 districts of somali region; 598 health workers and health extension workers received the training on sever and moderate acute malnutrition management.
